legacy giving
Leave a gift to the Anacortes Family Center in your will or estate plan (a process known as planned giving), and you’ll be making a commitment to our community’s most vulnerable.

Your gift, no matter the size, will have an enduring impact for generations to come. Planned gifts are critical to developing sustainability for our programs and growing to meet evolving needs.
how planned giving works
Making a legacy gift begins with adding the Anacortes Family Center to your will. If you’ve already written a will and you’d like to add AFC, contact your attorney to prepare a document called a codicil. You may give to AFC in a variety of ways:
-
Indicate that you’d like to leave a specific sum of money to AFC
-
Gift a piece of property: this may be a home, a car, art, or jewelry
-
Designate a percentage of your estate to AFC: a good choice if you’re unsure what your total estate may be worth
“I want to be remembered for making a difference.”
LEGACY GIVING DONOR
your investment is protected
AFC’s board and staff are committed to ensuring our vital services are here to stay. Multiple layers of oversight give you the security of knowing your gift will be safe and will be used for the well-being of those we serve well into the future:
-
Strong financial policies and procedures
-
Monthly review by the Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors
-
An independent bookkeeper with CPA oversight
-
An annual review or audit performed by a CPA that reports directly to the board
